Welcome to the Department of Communication

The Department of Communication was the first department of its kind in the nation. Today, the department is highly ranked and a leader in communication scholarship.  Faculty members in the department are among the most published in the field. The department offers a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, a Master of Arts in Communication and a Ph.D. in Communication. The Ph.D. program is ranked No. 3 nationwide, based on data from the National Research Council (2010) and No. 2 in the National Communication Association reputational survey (2004). Undergraduates can enroll in the Sales Communication Specialization, a program that has won national competitions. The department plays a central role in the college’s Master of Arts in Health and Risk Communication.
