The CAS community is asked to help students in need of winter clothing by donating any coats, hats, scarves, gloves and boots that are new, slightly used or in good condition to the MSU Administration Professional Association's (MSU-APA) annual Winter Coat Drive, running now through Friday, Oct. 25.
Students of migrant labor families often come to MSU with few funds and no experience with Michigan winters. That's why MSU's Migrant Student Services Program and Family Resource Center is partnering with the MSU-APA to host the Winter Coat Drive to help those students through the cold winter weather.
The MSU-APA also is partnering with Lansing Public Schools. Any children's coats and winter wear collected will go to Lansing Public School children in need. Lansing Schools also will be sharing their adult winter wear they collect with MSU.
Last year's APA coat drive resulted in nearly 550 garments. This year's goal is to exceed last years success. Donations can be dropped off in the College of Communication Arts & Sciences building, Room 201, as well as at several locations across campus.
