Our graduate programs cultivate strong research skills, areas of expertise and teaching early in our students' academic pursuits. We take a transdisciplinary, translational approach to addressing basic and applied communication questions across and between disciplines and audiences to advance human interactions, health and safety, as well as the effective transfer of research findings for multiple applications including healthcare, science and technology, business, agriculture and the environment.

The college receives grant funding from a broad array of institutions including the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Medicaid, NASA, the National Endowment for the Humanities/Michigan Humanities Council, and Michigan Department of Community Health.
