If you are a current CAS student or recent graduate, you know that we offer an abundance of amazing study abroad and internship opportunities. In fact, we are pretty aggressive and progressive in not only encouraging students to take advantage of such opportunities, but also working to provide financial assistance to help students as well.
We want to make sure our students have every advantage when it comes to landing the best jobs after graduation and know that in order for them to do so, their resumes must stand out from those of their competitors. Having firsthand experience abroad learning about other cultures and perspectives, or spending the summer working for a well-known or up-and-coming company or organization is becoming an expectation of employers.
To help our students do so, CAS faculty, administrators and alumni are doing several things. First, we have been working closely with our alumni to raise scholarship funds to help our students cover travel and living costs necessary to study abroad or intern for employers located in major cities away from home. This year, nearly 30 students benefited from such scholarships who otherwise would not have been able to afford to do so.
Secondly, we are offering more and more online courses over the summer and throughout the year so students can stay on schedule to graduate, even if they choose to study abroad or accept an internship in another city, state or country. Starting this summer, all courses offered by our School of Journalism will be available online. And all of our other departments also offer classes online as well.
Not only do we see this as a great advantage for our full-time students, but it also helps those currently in the workforce who want to pursue a college degree, but need the scheduling flexibility to do both.
I encourage you to explore all the fantastic study abroad opportunities now available just about anywhere in the world — just one of many tremendous advantages that comes with attending an international university like MSU!
When you find the perfect one for you, then make sure you also check out available scholarships and online classes for CAS students. AND, students, make sure you send a big thank you to those CAS alumni and faculty who help make all these opportunities possible!
