TC 491 Special Topics: Portfolio Design

Fall 2010, TC 491, Section 301 Portfolio Design

Learn how to package yourself for employers, get prepared for your job search and make yourself marketable. Spend two days with Guest Instructor and Alum Sasha Verhage from Google. He will go into foundational design principles, techniques for packaging yourself, and will bring in guest speakers so you can get advice from other design professionals. The importance of portfolios and how to make them polished will be covered. The focus will be on visual design and the information hierarchy of portfolios. There will also be two sessions prior to Mr. Verhage's visit that cover basic resume tips, corresponding with employers, and tips for job searching. Creating a portfolio site will be a required assignment.
