Scholarship Fund Type: Endowment
Scholarship Fund Established: Fall 2005
Scholarship Fund Description:
The donors wish to create a fund to support students who have specific, well-defined aspirations to succeed in the professional audio, radio, television and film industries. These students must demonstrate the requisite skills, professional demeanor, and perhaps most importantly, the motivation to succeed. Donors to this fund are encouraged to be available as resources to award recipients for professional advice, guidance and networking.
Moving talented students from college into the professional community is the over arching philosophy of this endowment. As such, the guidelines should be broad enough to support this process. It is intended to institutionalize and pay tribute to the vision and deep sense of personal commitment that has been the hallmark of Gary Reid's professional academic career.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:
- Worthy and capable student at Michigan State University in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences' Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies and Media
- Recipients shall be a junior, senior, or graduate student in the Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies and Media
- Preference will be given to applicants desiring an internship in the Los Angeles area, although in the absence of such a candidate these funds may be used to support internship work anywhere in the United State outside of the State of Michigan
- The award can be used for, but not limited to, housing, transportation, tuition and other required expenses incurred during the internship experience.
