Many reasons to celebrate

Michigan State University has experienced several landmark changes in the last 30 years. Since 1984, MSU has had 5 Presidents, won a National Title in Basketball, won 2 Rose Bowls, and multiple Big-10 conference championships in athletics. In 2006, the Department of Audiology and Speech Sciences became the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders (CSD). In these three decades, our Department has had 6 Chairpersons, and over 2,400 alumni!

The year 1984 also saw the beginning of the department’s Study Abroad program. Dr. Leo Deal developed one of the first Study Abroad Programs in CSD called “Communication Disorders in the British Isles.” Since its inception 30 years ago, over 400 CSD students have had the opportunity to learn and live in another country.
