MSU Partnerships: Media Sandbox & Department of Theatre

Posted on: March 19, 2013

This weekend, we took advantage of our wonderful new multi-media space over in Hubbard Hall. This creative space allows for collaboration of our Media Sandbox with other on-campus entities.
Both Friday and Saturday nights, we featured two live performances at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. each night. The performances featured actors from the MSU Department of Theatre in a play entitled, “All New People: A Play by Zach Braff.”
The play is comedy about a heart-broken 30-year-old man named Charlie who escapes to a vacation getaway in Long Beach Island, New Jersey in the middle of winter. His solitude is interrupted by a parade of misfits. The play had the audience clutching their sides with laughter.
“All New People” was directed by Rob Roznowski and starred Ryan Bennett, Eric Miller, Sadie Pappas, Michael Ryan Cleland, Sarah Anne Goeke, Eric Piwowar and Mandy Myers. The performance also featured Katie Maggart, Blaine Mizer, Anna Morreale and Josh Whitson.
In addition to the live play, there were film inserts created by our Media Sandbox students, which were “flashbacks” featured throughout the play. Our students Dylan Wolff, Jeff Grossman and Eric Piwowar were editors and cinematographers for the video clips, assisted by Instructor Alison Dobbins.
The four performances were all well-attended and the intimate space allowed for a fantastic collaboration. We look forward to collaborating with the Department of Theatre again for entertainment, as well as with other departments on campus!
