Capturing the essence of creativity has challenged great thinkers since the beginning of time, but that didn’t daunt the brave students who dared to jump into this year’s Media Sandbox Challenge. The goal of the challenge was to really push our students to get their creative juices flowing and make something (anything!) that illustrates the importance of creativity.
The top 10 entries are now posted on the Media Sandbox website and showcase how each student or student group took a completely original approach to the challenge, which is exactly what makes creativity so fascinating. Please check out the entries and cast your vote on Facebook for the one that you think best meets the challenge. The winner of the People's Choice Award will receive a cash prize of $500. You can vote now through April 30 for your favorite entry, but you will need to "like" the posting first.
The top three juried entries will be announced at the upcoming Alumni Awards Celebration Dinner on May 4. The grand prize is $3,000, second place is $1,500 and third place is $750. (If you haven’t reserved your tickets for this wonderful and always inspiring event, do so now while they are still available. The deadline for purchasing tickets is April 26.)
In addition to the Media Sandbox’s 2013 Challenge for our CAS students, the Sandbox also hosted a Pinterest Competition for high school students. Eighty-eight entries were received and the talent demonstrated by these aspiring creatives is impressive. The goal of the high school competition was to reach out to promising creative students, make them aware of the Media Sandbox and consider CAS as the college of their choice. I am sure you will be as delighted as I was when you check out the talent that may be coming our way soon!
And while you are at it, make sure you take some time to explore the Media Sandbox website. Our faculty and students have done a fantastic job making this site a lively, friendly place for creative, curious students to connect with each other. You will be amazed by all the events posted and particularly our students’ award-winning work on exhibit in the online student gallery. (Don’t forget to “like” us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, too.)
Check out all the excellent resources and fun opportunities available through the Media Sandbox, bookmark the website as one of your own sources for inspiration, and share it with any students you know who are looking for the best place to study creative media!
