Journalism Faculty attends Hispanic-focused Media Conference

Manuel ChavezSchool of Journalism faculty Manuel Chavez was one of several national academic experts to share his research on the Latino print media of the midwest at the “Hispanics and the Media: The Emerging Power,” conference at Florida International University on Oct. 17–18, 2012.

The event was sponsored by the Hearst Foundation, VOXXI and the Scripps Howard Foundation among others and featured top executives from major media outlets, including NBC/Telemundo, Univision/ABC and The Miami Herald, speaking about their company's role in the expanding Hispanic media market.

Apart from MSU experts, academics hailing from the fields of journalism and communication from Southern California, University of Texas-Austin, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Florida International and University of Florida were also in attendance and offered case studies to illustrate the impact andreach of Hispanic products, audiences, national topics and agendas.
