For the second year, top entries for the 2013 Media Sandbox Challenge were showcased at the CAS Alumni Awards Celebration Dinner. New this year was an exhibit of top student regional Addy winners as well. As guests entered the main dining area, they were treated to an amazing poster display of student works that exemplify why the college is becoming the go-to recruiting center for companies seeking the most talented, well prepared creatives.
The Creative Challenge this year asked students to "make something (anything!) that illustrates how important creativity is in today's world."
Entrants were required to incorporate the name "Media Sandbox" and its "S" logo, the name of our college and Michigan State University into their entries.
Grand Prize Winners Jonathan Black, Carolyn McLean, Terry Sieting and Qinge Wu are all Advertising majors. Collectively, they developed a video as well as a comprehensive campaign with posters and other complementary components around the theme, "Creativity Connects Us."
"This entry is one of the most professionally executed projects I have seen since I have been with the college and that's been quite a few years," said Bob Albers, Media Sandbox Director and Senior Video Specialist for the Telecommunication Information Studies and Media (TISM) department.
"The year's Creative Challenge winners work will be used to attract the next class of outstanding students to the Media Sandbox and it clearly shows employers the caliber of creative talent we have here in the college," added Albers.
The Second Place winner of the Creative Challenge is Miranda Miller, a Creative Advertising major. The Third Place winner as well as the recipient of the People's Choice Award is Carly Belsito, a Journalism major. Congratulations to all for stepping up to the Challenge!
Please take this opportunity to be inspired and check out the outstanding creative work of all 10 top entries.
