Almost 30 years ago, Laurie Parres stood for the first time on a TV sitcom set as part of a study abroad with MSU's Mass Media Studies in London, and she hasn't walked away from the television industry since.
While still a CAS student, majoring in telecommunication, Parres interned at Mary Tyler Moore's production company and hired there full time after graduation.
Since then, she's written episodes of Full House, The Martin Short Show, Charmed and Whoopi, among others. She's also worked on the production crew of Spin City and The Golden Girls.
Most recently, Parres found herself in the exact same writers' room where she got her first shot on Full House and where she is now a writer for Wendell & Vinnie, a Nickelodeon series.
Wendell & Vinnie, starring Jerry Trainor and Buddy Handleson, is a comedy produced for adults and families for Nick at Nite. The show tells the story of Vinnie, a storeowner living in California who becomes the legal guardian of his nephew, Wendell, after Wendell's parents die.
A group of MSU students visited the set of "Wendell & Vinnie" on the Warner Brothers lot in Burbank, Calif., in March.Share via these networks:
