Career Options
Professional Programs:
Teach skills for careers in newspapers, magazines, radio, television, design and the visual arts.
Offer opportunities to work at EJ environmental magazine, Focal Point, PBS and WKAR programs, Capital News Service; and more!
Our faculty include a Pulitzer Prize-winner, an award-winning environmental writer, experienced broadcast journalists and top reporters, photographers, designers and producers.
Research Programs:
Teach theory and methods needed to explore media technologies, media content and media influences on society.
Offer opportunities to study journalists, news organizations and media economics, coverage of international affairs, social and political conflict and more!
Our faculty include scholars who have written books, won research awards and landed grants, whose experience and expertise help shape the next generation of university educators.
Career-ready graduates
Our graduates work at The New York Times, the Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Virginian-Pilot, National Geographic, National Public Radio, CNN, ESPN, WXYZ-TV (Detroit), The Indianapolis Star, the Associated Press and literally dozens of others newspapers, magazines, TV and radio station throughout the nation. They also land jobs in public relations, government and business agencies.
Our top-flight research program opens doors to doctoral programs and creates paths to teaching and research positions.
